Workshop With The Composer

The Music Department on Dover recently hosted workshops for our string playing students with Stephen Chin.  Stephen is the Principal String Teacher and Director of Orchestras at Brisbane Grammar School. He holds a Master of Music specialising in violin performance and pedagogy, and lectured in String Pedagogy and Practicum at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Kosal Khiev: the man who found poetry

The UWCSEA Fund 2016/2017 supported Writers Fortnight on East. Below is an essay from one of our students on the visit from poet Kosal Khiev.

Piercing brown eyes which have experienced too much grief, yet still gleam with exuberance. Deft hands which have been beaten one too many times, yet still bear the crafty gait of an artist. A man, who has been forced to confront his darkest fears, who has been exiled from his own home; a man, who has been broken to the point of oblivion. You would expect his face to be streaked with tears, yet Kosal charges on with the passion of an ardent fire.

A year of creative collaboration – IDEAS Hub

An array of competitions, workshops, experts talks, after-school activities and hosted events have made for a dynamic and productive first year at the IDEAS Hub on Dover Campus. The Hub opened in August 2016 with a mission to provide a place that inspires and supports our community to explore, innovate, collaborate and create sustainable solutions to shape a better world.
