The IDEAS Hub is our haven for budding innovators and entrepreneurs. Opened in 2016, thanks to the generous support of our donor community, it is a place that inspires and supports exploration, innovation, collaboration and the creation of sustainable solutions to shape a better world.
The vibrant space includes:
This space will grow organically as it begins to be utilised by the students. There are custom built benches to provide a viewing area and useful storage, screens and speakers are also fitted in the ceiling to create a non-intrusive performance or speaker area.
Prototyping and Fabrication Area
Supported by UWCSEA alumni, Mayank Singhal ‘92 of P I Industries Pte Ltd, these two areas will bring creations to life. One area is designated for heavier scale work using a variety of tools, both hand and electric powered. The other is for lighter work such as textiles, soldering and rapid prototyping using 3D printers.
Coding and Robotics Area
Students will be able to use a variety of bare board computers and robotics kits to build and programme, as well as develop a wide range of digital creative skills. Other coding tools and applications will also be available to learn and explore.
Supported by UWCSEA parents, Shripriya Mahesh Ramanan and Ramanan Raghavendran, the two “green rooms” will provide the ideal space for creating videos and animations. The media studios are equipped with specialist lighting and “Padcaster” video camera kits, which will enable users to easily shoot, edit and share high-quality videos.
We are seeking contributions at a range of levels to establish an endowment fund to make the IDEAS Hub a financially sustainable and successful programme in the long term.
